  2. HISTORY OF NAPIER UNIVERSITY • 1550 - John Napier, the inventor of logarithms and the decimal point, isfounder of Napier university.

CAMPUSES • The university has 3 maincampuses, close to city centre • Craighouse - Craighouse currently houses part of the School of Creative Industries with Communication Arts and Music courses based here. • Merchiston - It is home to the award winning 500-seater Jack Kilby Computing Centre, open 24 hours a day - and also to the 13th century Napier Tower where John Napier was born in 1550 • Craiglockhart - Home to The Business School

THE BUSINESS SCHOOL • As one of the largest and most modern Business Schools in Scotland, we offer a wide range of internationally recognised courses leading to awards of Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate degrees, including BA (Hons), MSc, MPhil, DBA and PhD. • The state of the art Craiglockhart Campus, home of The Business School, boasts one of the newest and most modern learning environments in Scotland,

FACULTYOF ENGINEERING, COMPUTING & CREATIVE INDUSTRIES The Faculty encompasses 3 schools: SchoolofComputing • We are one of the largest schools of computing in Scotland and offer a wide range of programmes at undegraduated mastersand doctorallevels in all areas of computing. School of Arts & Creative Industries • We have over 1,300 students enrolled on a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, including Design, Advertising, Communication, Film, Photography, Journalism, Music, Publishing, Cultural Studies, and Literature. School of Engineering & the Built Environment • SEBE comprises 4 distinct areas of interest – Building & Surveying, Civil & Transportation Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Mechanical & Materials Engineering.  Within each of these 4 sectors, both traditional and modern elements of engineering are offered

  7. FACULTY OF HEALTH, LIFE & SOCIAL SCIENCES Thisfaculty has 4,409 students. The Faculty encompasses 3 schools: Healthandsocialsciences • Undergraduate courses in psychology and sociology offer an insight into human behaviour and the workings of society, while the complementary healthcare programmes investigate holistic methods of improving health and wellbeing. Lifesciences • the School offers an exciting and active environment with a diverse range of opportunities for research and study.   Innovative programmes such as forensic biology, herbal medicine and ecotourism, as well as a popular suite of courses in sportandexercise science, are also available Nursing, MidwiferyandSocial care • Our core business is the education of healthcare professionals across the full range of nursing and midwifery disciplines at all levels. The School is one of the largest providers of pre-registration Nursing & Midwifery courses in Scotland.
