Employees in these occupations usually need several years of work-related experience, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training. What exactly does a Broadcast News Anchor do? • Present news stories, and introduce videotaped segments or live transmissions from on-the-scene reporters. • Gather information and develop perspectives about news subjects through research, interviews, observation, and experience. • Select material most pertinent to presentation, and organize this material into appropriate formats. • Edit news material to ensure that it fits within available time. • Coordinate and serve as an anchor on news broadcast programs. • Examine news items of local, national, and international significance or obtain assignments from editorial staff members.
