  4. Purpose Pastor Larry Tucker, Sr. • Why Does Your Ministry Do What it Does? • The purpose of a Deaconess is to aid and support the Pastor, Ministers and Deacons in the functions of the church. The Deaconess has an important responsibility as it pertains to the preparation of members for Baptism and the preparation of the Lord’s Supper. It is also vital that we assist the Pastor, Ministers and Deacons in ministering to the sick and shut-in. • What is The Bible Reference to Support What Your Ministry Does? • 1 Timothy 3:11. Here Paul is referring to women who assist Deacons. In Romans 16:1-2, Paul refers to a woman by the name of Phobe who was a Deaconess that assisted him while he preached.
