Key regional progress - Economic Over 10,000 businesses signed up on CompeteFor Over 100 contracts awarded with 46 via CompeteFor £2m volunteering in employment ‘Team East for Skills’ programme launched 1300 participant target LSC £1.3m Sport and Leisure skills programme £25K Regional pilot Personal Best – pre volunteering programme to be launched January with Essex also committing £75K to deliver the programme specifically as a pathway into apprenticeships in the county

Key regional progress - Social Overall 21 Inspire Mark projects achieved in region Over 80 events participated in the Open Weekend in July 2009 4 Cultural projects considered for Legacy Trust major event funding 40% of East of England Schools signed up to Get Set Domestic education programme BT / NRE Schools Technology Challenge delivered Research on health legacy from 2012 delivered and being acted upon

Key regional progress - Sporting Work commenced on White Water Canoe Course Final negotiations complete on Mountain Bike course Legacy Trust major event fund supporting two new sporting events in the region – Great East Swim and Tour of Britain events Regional strategy, protocols and promotional programme established for PGTC activity 3 Memorandum of Understanding for PGTC signed Visits made by Barbados, Bermuda, India and Rwanda, Ivory Coast, British Virgin Islands

Other key progress NRE Summit delivered March 2009 with over 200 delegates attending – refreshed strategy launched Significant media coverage across the region for 2012 inspired interventions Good engagement with regional representatives of 2012 Sponsors such as BT, Lloyds, Deloittes, Holiday Inn with significant in kind contributions leveraged Significant county area resource leveraged East Region consistently held as exemplar region by London 2012 for strength of leadership, coordination and engagement
