  1. HOW STRESS AFFECTS YOUR ORAL HEALTH Stress is an unavoidable reality these days. You just can’t avoid it. And coping with it takes toll on the body and creates disbalance in the whole body. The effects of stress are not only limited to our mental health but can also stretch to oral health. In fact, several studies on the subject have found a link between stress and oral health concerns. Here are some of ways stress can affect our oral health 1. Mouth Sores – Emotional stress is one of main causes of mouth sores. Canker sores or cold sores are some of examples how stress can affect our oral health. In most cases, mouth sores will go away utomatically within few days without requiring any treatment. 2. Gum Disease – Stress can affect the immense system. And when it does happen, some damage to the gums is caused in the process. In fact, stressful life can cause gum disease or may worsen the existing gum disease.

  2. 3. Dry Mouth – Stress can lead to dry mouth. And when dry mouth problem occurs, it affects the saliva production in mouth, and we know saliva keeps away a lot of oral problems. When saliva is lacked in the mouth, the food particles and bacterial will not be washed away from teeth and gums. 4. Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ) – We know how stress causes constant rounds of worrying and thinking. And when that happens, we tend to grind teeth during sleep. Headaches and jaw pain are some of symptoms when we have TMD and it can also lead to tooth decay. 5. Teeth Clenching – Teeth clenching is bad for our oral health.
