  • Held in the city of Dionysia
  • To celebrate and honor Dionysus
  • Honor his resurrection
  • Died in the winter and reborn in Spring
  • Religious festivals turned into dramatic competitions

  • All different people came together
  • About 15,000 people
  • All about drinking and sexuality
  • Playwright presented 3 tragedies, a comedy and a satyr
  • Plays were judged
  • Winner got Laurel Wreath
