Liberals Platform; Mackenzie King is running for position • In 1935, Liberals re-elected during the Great Depression • Provide relief to farmers • Want to stimulate the economy • King is what Canada needs in order to be stable • Proving that if the Liberals don’t win, the country will go through a difficult time “King or Chaos”

  3. Liberals provided financial aid to Prairie Farmers • Passed the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Act (PFRA) • Gave money for farming methods • Provided equipment • Gave seed vacant land • Helped with relocating several farm to areas further north Farmers

  4. The Unemployment Insurance Act of 1940 instituted a national public system of unemployment insurance. It also included the reconstruction program, which included family allowances and proposals for health insurance. Unemployment Insurance Since unemployment rates rose to 30% during the 1930’s, the liberals expanded employment bureaus and administered the unemployment insurance system. Unemployment camps were also set up in various provinces. Unemployed

  7. The primary concern of business owners in Canada is the problem with exporting. This may include high tariffs and trade rules. That is why the Liberals prioritized the Reciprocal Trade Agreement. This particular agreement with the United States lowered tariffs, and thus, it yielded an increase in the amount of trade, mainly exports (since exports contribute 33% of the country’s Gross Income) Business Owners

  8. Conservatives- raised tariffs, did basically nothing for the 5-year term. • Communist- wants Canada to be a government-reliant country • Social Credit- Distributing “free money” makes the people government reliant. Other Parties
