Evidence • National Institute for Health Research Diagnostic Evidence Cooperative – Newcastle (NIHR DEC) • 1 of 4 in the Country • Response to industry need, with a remit to catalyse the development of evidence on the benefit and value of in vitro diagnostic tests (IVDs). Value for patients? Value for the health system? Is the test affordable? Value for Industry? • Currently working with 9 different companies Plan your project Develop a grant proposal Carry out your research Disseminate evidence from research studies

National Institute For Health and Care Excellence – External Assessment Centre (NICE EAC) • Partnership between NUTH and York Health Economics Consortium (YHEC) • 1 of 4 nationally • independent assessment of clinical and cost evidence for novel medical technologies • developing and facilitating independent, targeted research projects to fill gaps in the evidence identified by NICE committees • physiological measurement and diagnostic imaging technologies for the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency (PASA) and the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) • substantial expertise in regulatory affairs (CE marking) and technology transfer
