  3. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 • 8:40 Students report to homeroom for attendance • 9- 10:30 (Band room): Guest speakers, the speakers will rotate between the 4 classes. The speakers move not the kids. • 10:30- 11:10 Back to homeroom- Class time 1st rotation. • 11:10- 11:50 2nd rotation. We will rotate our homerooms in the following order- Smith, Russ, Der, Crump               • 4th period- 1st lunch!    • 1:28- 2:20  3rd Rotation -Class time • 2:20- 2:45 3rd Rotation- Outside time • 2:45- 3:35 4th Rotation- Class time

Jeopardy Expectations • Conversation: Level 0 • Help: Raise your hand • Activity: Listen and write down the questions and answers to the Jeopardy questions • Movement: you may not get up to sharpen your pencil • Participation: Look at your paper and write down the questions and answers. Do NOT talk to your friends

Why? • Middle East Pre-Test: • How do you think that you did on the multiple choice, short answer and constructed response? • What material do you feel like you know and what material do you feel like you don’t know?

You cannot use the textbook or any of the maps in the room. • Write down all of the countries that you know in the Middle East. • Take out Geography Alive and compare your maps to the maps in the textbook. Which countries are you missing? How close was your map to the actual map?

Vocabulary for Middle East Unit • Consumption- the using up of goods and services • Production- creation or construction • Import- to bring in goods from a foreign country for trade or sell • Export- something sold abroad as part of international trade • Oil reserves- oil that has been discovered but remains unused in the ground • Petroleum- oil • Islam- a monotheistic religion characterized by the acceptance of the Koran and Muhammad as the chief, last prophet of god • Muslim- a person who practices Islam • Fossil fuels- any fuel, such as petroleum, coal, and natural gas, that is made from the remains of prehistoric plants and animals • Supply and demand- economic system that determines price in a market economy • Dictator- a leader who governs by force, without the consent of the people • Monarchy- a country that is ruled by a king or queen
