    2. Beginnings Program initiated in 1990 Limited to Tampa campus academic and administrative buildings USF continues to expand recycling efforts

    3. Paper Recycling Currently recycling mixed paper Office paper, newspaper, magazines, cardboard, paperbacks PPD has distributed about 2,000 office-size recycling containers Small yellow bins Large 64 Gallon recycling containers centrally located on most floors

    4. Mixed Recyclables Currently recycling plastics, glass, and aluminum

    5. Other Recyclables Bulk recycling station within Physical Plant compound Internal use only Yard debris and tree limbs Fluorescent bulbs and fixture ballasts Electronic equipment Mixed metals (furniture, shelving, etc.) Concrete waste

    6. Community Recycling Station Located on USF Sycamore Drive Accepts paper, plastic, glass, aluminum Operated in conjunction with the City of Tampa

Recognition and Awards Hillsborough County School Recycling Awards 1994 and 1995 Hillsborough County Continuing Excellence Award for Commitment to Recycling 1996 Business & School Recycling Awards from the Recycling Task Force of Hillsborough County 1997 Recycling Award from the Recycling Task Force of Hillsborough County 2000

    8. Management and Resources Recycling employees include: One full-time recycling staff Vehicle operators Building Services staff handles materials Physical Plant operates two dedicated trucks to pickup and transport recyclables On-campus pickup routes are run daily

    9. Management and Resources (contd.) Currently working with several local recycling partners for cost-competitiveness Delivery to recycling partners as needed Usually 1-3 times weekly

    10. Trends and Statistics Since inception, USF has recycled over 6,500 tons of paper earning over $140,000 Since inception, USF has recycled over 44 tons of aluminum earning over $35,000 in revenues Revenues generated are used to fund the recycle program.

    11. Trends and Statistics (contd.) FY 2009 Recycled Material Totals Mixed Paper: 501 tons Mixed Plastic/Aluminum/Glass: 291 tons Aluminum: 1.3 tons Metals: 33 tons Concrete: 12 tons Trees/yard debris: 573 tons Total: 1411.3 tons

    12. Trends and Statistics (contd.) FY 2009 Solid Waste Totals Trash Quantity: 698/1027 tons Trash cost per ton: $66/$218 FY 2009 Recycle Totals Recycle Quantity: 1411.3 tons Percent of waste recycled: 45% Recycle revenue: $20,027 Total recycle avoided cost: $113,172
