Tribute to Our Past, Commitment to Our Future • Outside Classroom Learning Activities: • Quiz on CityU history • (2) Idea Contest for Brilliant and Creative Ideas to promote Support of the University’s new Strategic Plan • Target audience: All CityU students • Time frame: 14 Jan to 28 Feb 2010

  4. Tribute to Our Past, Commitment to Our Future • GOALS : • Enrich students’ learning experience • Foster creativity and independent thinking • Enhance students’ information skills • Encourage self-learning and establish life-long learning habit • Increase students’ sense of belonging to CityU

  5. Tribute to Our Past, Commitment to Our Future • Quiz on CityU History • 634 students participated in the Quiz • 119 students (19%) got full marks and are eligible for lucky draw • Average score of all students:7.67 (10 is full marks)

  10. Tribute to Our Past, Commitment to Our Future • Panel Members did not reach a consensus about all the submissions. • In the end, it was agreed that all the 14 submissions would be accepted for consideration by the Final Selection Panel.

  12. Tribute to Our Past, Commitment to Our Future Members of the FinalSelection Panel met with Mr. Patrick Kwong of UP and Mr. Longgen Chen of CPRO on 19th March, 2010 to present their evaluation of the 14 submissions. All confirmed the selection of the winners.

Tribute to Our Past, Commitment to Our Future The Grand Prize for the best idea across all categories (An iPhone for individual submission or HK$6,000 cash vouchers for group submission) Winner: Leung Ka Kit (Student ID: 5XX115XX) Ka Kit designed new logos for CityU, SLW and CSE. He also created a slogan for CityU.

Tribute to Our Past, Commitment to Our Future In the document Ka Kit submitted, he clearly explained the ideas behind the design of the three proposed new logos and why a slogan and new logos were essential promotional tools. The Selection Panel thought his ideas were creative, innovative, practical and meaningful.

Tribute to Our Past, Commitment to Our Future Merit Awardsfor outstanding submissions in each category (An i-Pod Nano for individual submission or HK$1,200 cash vouchers for group submission) Not all submissions met the selection criteria. So according to the rules of the contest, the judges used their discretion to decide the winners.
