12. Fliban (Generic Flibanserin Tablets) Warnings Alcohol use is contraindicated in patients taking Fliban due to the fact that Hypotension and Syncope due to an Interaction with Alcohol occurs. Before prescribing Fliban, the doctor must assess the likelihood of the patient abstaining from alcohol use, taking into account the patient’s current and past drinking behavior, and other pertinent social and medical history. Taking Fliban within two hours after consuming alcohol increases the risk of severe hypotension and syncope. To reduce this risk, counsel patients to wait at least two hours after drinking one or two standard alcoholic drinks before taking Fliban at bedtime. Patients who drink three or more standard alcoholic drinks should skip their Fliban dose that evening. The concomitant use of Fliban with moderate or strong CYP3A4 inhibitors significantly increases Flibanserin concentrations, which can lead to hypotension and syncope.
