  1. Am I drawing a picture of God by the way I live?” Holiness- Lesson 6

  2. ToTo be HOLY means to be separated from sin and consecrated to God for His purposes and for His use.

  3. Two Types of Holiness POSTIONAL – Christ's redemption for our sins, personally applied to us at salvation. PERSONAL – Walking in obedience to God's Commands.

  4. Commentary Quote: • As Christians we are • called to be holy ... • This does not refer to our nature. • It is a command of our practice ... • We are to be holy in obedience...

  5. If holiness is so important to Christian living why do we not experience it more in daily living?”, Jerry Bridges asked. He answers this question by listing three problem areas:

  6. Our attitude toward sin • is more self-centered than God-centered. • We are more concerned about our victory • over sin than we are about the fact • that OUR SINS GRIEVE the heart of God. • Obedience is oriented toward God; • victory is oriented toward self.

  7. We have misunderstood “Living by faith” to mean that no effort at holiness is required on our part. • The Scriptures teach us that in following holiness, • the true Christian needs • personal exertion and work as well as faith. • We must face the fact that we have a personal responsibility for our walk of holiness.

  8. We do not take some sin seriously. • We have mentally categorized sins • into big sins and little sins. • It is compromise on the little issues • that leads to greater downfalls.

  9. Is the Lord to be obeyed in all things whatever He commands? • Are we willing to call sin “sin”, • not because it is big or little, • but because God's law forbids it? • We cannot categorize sin • if we are to live a life of holiness.

  10. What does my life show about God? Is my life centered around obedience or victory? Is my life based on living by faith OR living by faith AND pursuit of holiness? Holiness includes faith and work. Is my life based on the truth that sin is sin, because God commands it. When we categorize sins, we cannot walk in holiness.
