  1. RADIO-FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION Identifying and Inventorying Assets presented by EID Ltd. 10 July 2006

  2. OVERVIEW • Introductions • RFID Overview • How RFID Works • Different RFID Technologies • Points to consider in selecting a suitable RFID Technology • TROVAN system applications

  3. ABOUT TROVAN LTD. • Technology leader since 1989 • 16-year track record of service and reliability • On-going product R&D program • Comprehensive technology and patent portfolio • Broad pallet of products

  4. EXPERIENCE • Systems installed in over 40 nations and on seven continents • Tens of millions of assets identified with Trovan transponders • Customers include major corporations and government agencies in North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australasia

  5. HOW DOES IT WORK? 128 KHz operating frequency

  6. TRANSPONDER FORM FACTORS

  7. TRANSPONDER FORM FACTORS(CONT’D)

  8. TRANSPONDER FORM FACTORS (CONT’D)

  9. TRANSPONDER FORM FACTORS (CONT’D)

  10. DIFFERENT RFID TECHNOLOGIES • Active vs. Passive • Low Frequency vs. High Frequency, UHF • Read-only vs. Read-write • Full Duplex vs. Half Duplex

  11. WHY USE LOW FREQUENCY, PASSIVE RFID? • Tag signatures cannot be “captured” by unauthorized personnel over distances • Read reliability: through non-ferrous solids, liquids, paint, dirt, grease, etc. • Overall cost of deploying complete system is significantly less • Unlimited transponder lifespan--no batteries to replace

  12. WHY USE LOW FREQUENCY, PASSIVE RFID? (CONT’D) • Each transponder good for life of asset

  13. TROVAN TECHNOLOGY ADVANTAGES • Easier and faster reads • Full duplex technology (removes need for frequency-determined tuning circuit and for power-supply capacitor) • Automatically hunts for best frequency to maximize power transfer, minimizing effect of composites on operation • Transponders operate on and countersunk in metals • Enhanced performance in high-EMI environments

  14. TROVAN TECHNOLOGY ADVANTAGES(CONT’D) • Read range • Minimize number of tag components (system reliability) • Engineering team available to develop customized solutions
