Focus- INFORMATION & POINT OF VIEW • A.C.-Define / Discuss “connotation” • Student volunteers for “WALK” activity • Connotation is only one aspect to consider in word choice. Selecting vivid, precise words makes for better writing. • We went there last year and did lots of things. Identify the vague words and suggest vivid, precise words. • ASLE- Precision of Language Writing Activity • Re-write sentences under picture using vivid, precise words (1-10) • IEI- Babies and Birthdays Activities • Complete graphic organizer comparing information from Jonas’s society and ours. • Use the information to write a paragraph of comparison Closing: Explain one reason why it is important for an author to choose words carefully. HE- Read Chapters 5-6. Complete $1.00 Summary for each chapter read
