  1. How to draw a field sketch The following instructions have been written to support the learning of students visiting RSPB Pulborough Brooks. The drawings have been done using WORD, not a pencil! Jackie Day, RSPB Education officer

  2. Draw 2 lines lightly, approximately dividing the page equally into 3 parts.

  3. Looking at the landscape view draw in the HORIZON using the top line as a guide. Draw what you can see in the far distance e.g. hills

  4. Draw in the “middle ground” from the horizon. Remember, the nearer something is the more detail you can see.

  5. Draw in the “nearest land” using the lowest guideline to help you.

  6. Draw in anything that you can see!
