  1. WHO IS JESUS ?? • He is worthy of worship • He is the “Firstborn” • He is the “Only begotten” • Jehovah • The Son of man

  2. WHO IS JESUS? John 1:49, Nathanial said…. Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” John 11:27, Martha said… She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.”

  3. WHO IS JESUS? Matthew 16:16, Peter said… Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Acts 9:20, Paul said… And immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is the Son of God.”

  4. The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 1 John 5 10-11 Jesus IS the Son of God

  5. He is the “Titled” Son of God But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest said to him, “I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.” 64 Jesus said to him, “You have said so. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.” Matthew 26:63-64

  6. He is the “Titled” Son of God She (Martha, mac) said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.” John 11:27

  7. He is the “Titled” Son of God The Christ The Messiah The King of Israel He is the expected Savior

  8. He is the “Equal” Son of God This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. John 5:18 “SON” Often denoted sameness, or equality

  9. For Jesus to be the “son” of God would equal blasphemy to the Jews! Luke 10:26 - And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. Luke 20:34 - And Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage,

  10. For Jesus to be the “son” of God would equal blasphemy to the Jews! John 17:12 - While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. . Acts 4:36- Thus Joseph, who was also called by the apostles Barnabas (which means son of encouragement), a Levite, a native of Cyprus, ,

  11. …I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me…. 2 Samuel 7 12-14

  12. He is the “Servant” Son of God A dual prophecy from 2 Samuel 7:12-14 concerning Solomon and fulfilled in Jesus

  13. For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son,today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”? Hebrews 1:5

  14. Before His incarnation… EQUALITY • I am the LORD; that is my name;my glory I give to no other… Isaiah 42:8 • And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed. John 17:5

  15. Note: “Son” and Subjection is shown... - Not in O.T. except by prophecy - In the N.T by his servanthood (humbled, emptied, learning)

  16. Before His incarnation… EQUALITY …who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:6-8

  17. Before His incarnation… EQUALITY Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. Hebrews 5:8

  18. Before His incarnation… EQUALITY For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. Romans 8:29 Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 1 Peter 2:21

  19. He is the “Abba” Son of God “abba”- Aramaic for “daddy”, the name for Father in the family.

  20. Mark 14:36- Jesus modeled for usAnd he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” Matthew 6:9- taught to cry to FatherPray then like this:“Our Father in heaven…1 John 3:1-2- blessed to be childrenSee what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. … 2 Beloved, we are God's children now, Hebrews 2:11- have a big brother For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers,

  21. In using the term “abba”,In calling God “our” Father, In calling us “brethren”,Jesus models a loving relationship with our heavenly Father.

  22. Who Is Jesus To You? Savior Christ? Deity, God? Obedient Servant? A loving big brother? But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God… John 1:12
