  1. Deciding the priorities • Evidence from the templates and from Parish Plans will form part of the evidence for the Core Strategy, but a range of other sources must also be taken into account. • National Planning Policy Statements and the South East Plan requirements will have a major influence. • The difficult part of using the template is deciding the priorities to put forward – this is a decision for Parishes but a process that we can help support.

  2. Template

  3. Template We suggest you describe three priorities under each of the following eight themes: • Environment and green space • Housing • Transport and access • Prosperity, employment and the economy • Health and social care • Learning, education and training • Community safety • Culture, sport, leisure and play

  4. In addition to the template… • If larger scale development is expected you may wish to start thinking about local site preferences so you are ready to discuss these with the Council • Are there some areas of the Parish which, if developed, might facilitate the provision of local services? • Could your village support sensitively designed housing or business growth?

  5. Support Available Wealden District Council and Wealden Local Strategic Partnership are working together to support Parishes • ‘Bridging’ template, on paper and on-line • On-line resources: www.wealdencommunitystrategy.co.uk/parish_plans • Officers available to answer questions about the LDF, Core Strategy and evidence • Officers can come to Parish meetings and help with using the template

  7. What are the next steps? • We would like your input by the end ofMay 2008 so please get in touch soon if you would like help using the template. • The Wealden Core Strategy Preferred Options will be published for consultation later this year, taking into consideration the feedback received. • The plan may be further amended before being submitted to the Government in 2009 • More detailed planning documents will be produced over the next few years; so there will be plenty of opportunity to stay involved!
