Biography & Education • 1938-1942: German Army • 1942-1946: studied architecture at • the Technische Hochschule in Munich • 1947: studied sculpture at • the Akademie der bildenden Kunste • 1948: married the architect Elisabeth Haggenmueller • and had 4 sons • 1947: back to cologne & working with his father • 1963-1985: professor of urban planning in Aachen

  4. Influence 1947: worked for his father (famous catholic church builder) 1950: worked for Rudolf Schwarz (famous german church architect) 1951: worked for Cajetan Baumann in New York City 1952: returned to his fahter’s office 1955: his father did and he took over his office

  11. Hans Otto Theater • started building in 2003 • opened Sept. 22, 2006 • located in Potsdam, Germany • model: Sydney opera house • help from his son: Paul Boehm • named after the actor Hans Otto • who was killed by the Nazis in 1933
