Thorpe, Principal Blandy Hills Elementary will be an exemplary school where students are encouraged to fulfill dreams and acquire the knowledge and skills to be successful as they continue their education and enter the workforce.

Areas of improvement to impact student achievement • Collaboration- All teachers will work as content and grade-level specialist with weekly and sometimes daily meetings to discuss instructional strategies. • Differentiated Instruction- All teachers will analyze data in an effort to target our high impact students through daily intervention and differentiation. • Reading, Writing, & Real-Life Application will be a weekly emphasis in all content areas. • Professional Learning for all highly qualified staff.

More Strategies • We refer to all students as “scholars” • DRILL DOWN the DATA to the students/Student Growth model • Triangulation of data analyzed • Several parent nights-K and 5th grade nights • Peer tutors/math manipulatives • Students made predictions and these were posted outside of the classroom as a visual reminder • Small groups/Math all day instruction • Providing students with interactive web-sites to help • The five WHYs-Root Cause analysis

  15. What Strategies did we implement to achieve our goals? • Differentiation in the classrooms • Content collaborations weekly/Vertical team • S.I.L.T. (School Improvement Leadership Team) • 2-math help sessions for students in grades 3-5 on two Saturdays • Teachers volunteered to work with student’s afterschool • Conferencing with parents daily • Communicators with formative/summative assessment grades on Wednesday

More Strategies • Technology-connected lesson plans/use of technology in the classrooms daily • Professional learning based on needs assessments • Smaller math classes/Hands-on activities • Y.E.S. program/SUCCESSMAKER • Daily Interventions and enrichment scheduled during the school day. • Monitoring the progress of subgroups and weaknesses were targeted with immediate, intense interventions. • Working as a T-E-A-M

What does this mean? • Our results this year on the CRCT show consistent progress, and we continue to see many students scoring in the exceeds category! • This is a testament to the great work our administrators, teachers, parapros, students, and parents are doing to take students to a higher level of learning.

  18. Did you know? • According to the Office of Student Achievement, BLANDY HILLS increased • 12.2 % on the CCRPI in 2013-14
