TDnet (Timely Disclosure network): since April 1998 All Listed companies in Japan about 4,000 companies Register Issue certificates TDnet Web Real-time service Database Service Media organizations Investors Contractors • Submit and register disclosure data to the TSE online • Give explanations of disclosure data to the TSE over the phone • Output disclosure data on TDnet terminals set at media organizations • (4) Obtain certificates (at any time after disclosure) • (5) Enable the public to view disclosure data (TSE web site, TDnet database service) • * The public can view the data on the • TSE website (http://www.tse.or.jp/) or by using the database service.

Application of XBRL to TDnet • 1998: First generation TDnet • Digital disclosure evolves from hardcopy disclosure • Financial data provided in PDF and CSV format • 2003: Second generation TDnet • XBRL introduced for the first time in the world • Receipt of financial data in XBRL format commences • 2008: Third generation TDnet • XBRL introduced substantially • Provision of financial data in XBRL format commences

TSE started to apply XBRL to TDnet in 2008 Input inXBRL • TDnet provides the original financial statements from listed companies to users in XBRL • Mandatory requirement for listed companies to submit financial data in XBRL format to TDnet Web Service Listed companies Investors Tokyo Stock Exchange Output in XBRL Media organizations

Future efforts in the application of XBRL to TDnet② ・Consider applying XBRL to non-financial information ・Consider applying XBRL to disclosure data (non-financial information including notes to financial statement, corporate action, etc.) ・Consider addressing issues related to the adoption of IFRS in TDnet, assuming that IFRS is to be applied in Japan ・Closer collaboration with Financial Services Agency(FSA)
