  9. Culture for sharingGateway strategy under the programme for digital expertise • Long-term goals: • Avoid overlapping content/duplication of effort • Extensive re-use and sharing • User-orientation, improved services for the end-user • Short-term goals: • Establish cooperation in order to coordinate content and services • The content provider as a source has primary responsibility for ensuring that content is correct • Websites to be adapted so as to allow re-use and sharing of content and services

  10. Status DLM – Communal effort • Organisational interoperability (interaction) • SANU • Established routines for the exchange of metadata • Technological interoperability is well established with Metadata (NORLOM) transfer protocols • Semantic interoperability • NORLOM (Metadata standard) • GREP: National Curriculum as a common, controlled vocabulary. Used in the SANU project.

  11. The ongoing process Utdanning.no • Add more material to the collection • Increase the number of partners in SANU (Universities/colleges) • Cooperation with private content providers • Services for external users • External search services for LMS, other websites etc. • Continuation of the collection of educational resources • Offer physical storage of resources. (Not only metadata) • More active teachers/pupils. (Community / Web 2.0) • Labelling/retrieval based on GREP/NORLOM • (National Curriculum) • Redesigning the website

  12. Status • The largest catalogue in Norway of distributed educational resources. (Catalogue of links). • Little web 2.0 / community • Few resources are stored physically in the collection. • Cooperation with those involved in SANU regarding the common exchange of metadata. • Communal effort to establish the catalogue.

  13. Access project • Offer a technical solution for Norwegian county municipalities (responsible for upper secondary schools). • Editorial responsibility lies with the county municipalities. • The solution must be able to be extended to other levels/subjects etc. • All resources included in the solution will also be part of Utdanning.no’s overriding strategy in respect of SANU and the services offered.

  16. SANU • Samordningsgruppen for Nettsteder i Utdanningssektoren – Coordination Group for Websites in the Educational Sector • Headed by utdanning.no • User perspective: Information and services directed at a target group must be able to be retrieved from several gateways, websites or information databases, whenever they provide the user with a better and more complete service. • Improved efficiency perspective: Avoid duplicated efforts and duplicated investments. Establish technological solutions that promote a culture where content is shared in order to exploit resources in the educational sector more expediently and to secure the efficient and effective flow of information to users. • The intention is not to establish a NAV, but to secure the “free flow” of information between websites in the best interests of the user • Requires a sharing culture, willingness to share and a common exchange format

  17. Private participants • Able to import meta-databases on NORLOM. • Must be licensed. • Will use the FEIDE log-on procedure.

  18. FEIDE • Common log-on procedure for the educational sector • A good way to identify users. • The challenge lies in authorization for access.
