  6. SE Asia Background • The Western world recognizes Southeast Asia for its rich culture, good food and strong traditions. Truly, Southeast Asian nations do live up to this expectation. Tom Yam from Thailand, Singlish in Singapore and the spectacular WayangKulit which originated in Indonesia: it is undeniably true that the countries in Southeast Asia offer an elaborate experience when it comes to the need to immerse yourself in new cultures. Apart from the tourist appeal of Southeast Asia, one might be interested in knowing that Southeast Asian countries have come a long way, overcoming colonialism and emerging relatively triumphant on the road to nationalism. http://altrapoint.com/2012/02/southeast-asian-identity/
