Lessons Learned in the overall the project interventions The project interventions underscore some important lessons, which have been taken into consideration in this project: Successful implementation of project activities requires strong commitment in monitoring & follow-up. Training and technical assistance necessary to ensure success +ve impact can be enhanced through application proven technologies Peer educatorsare an important of efforts to transfer skills and knowledge

Lessons Learned in HHWHS Introduced cost effective storage of the runoff water with mud plastered & geo membrane lined ponds for the first time in the woreda have been successfully proved in bagging water with out any problem for irrigation in the hands of poor farmers. Practical training on geo membrane maintenances and lining that were delivered by Minjar-shenkora farmer and expert are highly participated practical, participatory and highly interactive process of learning. Also the training is highly appreciated by zonal administration heads

  4. Lessons Learned in Family drip systems saving of water Reduces overall labor and operating costs Weed growth is restricted, thus reduced cost of weeding Demand increased for drip kits

  5. Lessons Learned in Kuri model watershed The applied participatory approach of the planning process created interest and sense of ownership among the communities. The habit of group working and problem solving get momentum. Most of the farmers knew that S&C means construction of physical structures but now days; they know watershed development integrated with bee keeping fruits, forage and vegetables.

Lessons Learned in Kuri model watershed cont’d Different Physical and biological conservation measures have been undertaken and become the learning center not only the woreda but also other woreda- visited by zonal cabinet members and farmers and Experts from Menz Gera woreda, Zemro woreda and Menz Gishe woreda.

  7. 6th year implementation strategies Project implementation managements Field work coordination and reporting mechanism are put in places Field reports are submitted and compiled by plan and programming expert. Review of implemented activity in every two month.

  8. Promotion of grassroots community capacity building through Farmer-to-farmer extension Providing training Experience sharing of farmers

  9. Implementation strategies cont’d Addressing the short- skills development of implementers for improving performance and ensuring quality of project activities Participating workshops, on-the-job training, on-site orientations and mentoring, Evaluate their own performances by their colleagues.
