  5. Role of Higher Education • Create new Bread of educated Pakistani Class which is fit to throw up the future captains of Business and Industry • Business Community being the Centre Forward of the economy • Universities are the Nurseries for growing businessmen of stature

  6. The opportunity of Mass Employment through Industrialization • Mass Employment through Large Scale Industrialization • Encouragement of SME • Vibrant Service Sector

  8. How to do this? • Channelizing University research • Solving Local Problems • Identify and en-cash global opportunities • Reverse Engineering for Wealth Creation

A matter of Concern • Pakistan’s best brains are lost to the West • In pursuit of their own standard of living and ease of operation • The manpower which should have been harnessed to create national wealth within Pakistan is lost to bolster the GDP foreign countries • Pakistan receives only home remittances from its unskilled workers toiling and myriad social problems.

  10. Road to Economic Success • Amend University syllabi to prepare students for • Motivation For Self Employment (e.g. include biographies of successful Business Icons) • Product Design • Marketing Research • Exposure to markets • Marketing Skills • Confidence building • Culture of Risk Taking

  11. Focus Needed • Each University also needs to cater to the following needs for their SURROUNDING areas when creating or modifying syllabus • Local Labor • Local Raw Materials • Local Skills • Local Clusters • Local Opprtunities

ORICs • Formation f Youth Entrepreneurship Society (YES) Clubs: • Proven model for creating awareness, motivation, & engagement among University students • The activities include Business Plan & Business Model Competitions, Story telling sessions and Entrepreneurial activities, expos & exhibitions • The Model can run with minimal level of supervision

  13. ORICs • Visibility within and outside University • ORICs Outreach and Marketing ( Social media and web) • Industry Advisory Boards • Formation of YES clubs • Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) information Centre • Fund outreach & Marketing for Technology Development Fund.

City University Business Incubation Centre (CUBIC) • Jointly conceived with ABE-UK • CUSIT/PMEIS- A market of 26000 students and 10000 teachers and staff • 3 months Level 3 Certificate will be offered to CUSIT graduates in Engineering, Management and Comps Sc./IT • After Successful completion of the course, ABE(UK) certificate of Startup will be awarded • The graduates will be trained through workshops, Mentors interactions and Industry visit to develop their business ideas. • They will be invited for Ideas competitions • Top ten ideas will be selected for developing Business Plans. • The selected incubates will be given space and other facilities at CUSIT to develop their businesses in partnerships with CUSIT • On becoming full fledged Entrepreneurs, they will be sent to the market to establish their own businesses after one year.
