  4. Research Report Writing Process The Steps: 1. researching 2. Prewriting and gathering facts 3. drafting 4. revising and editing 5. publishing

  5. Research Report Writing Process A research report must be well thought out. As with narratives, writing without a plan will result in a report that does not include all of the details that it likely would if planning had been done first!

  6. The prewriting stage is the second stage in the writing process. This is where you create your report! Often times, this stage is called brainstorming. Research papers are usually broken into three main parts: Topic introduction and basic facts Statements from specialists on the topic Information about current happenings

  7. Prewriting may not look like a final report. It may not even have complete sentences, and could be just a bunch of thoughts. We can put those thoughts into webs: ___Main Topic___

  8. Drafting This is the third stage of the process. In this stage, the facts are put together and are written down in report form. A draft is just the first try. It does not have to be perfect!

  9. Revising and Editing In the fourth stage, we polish our paper to make it better! Are there details we left out? Will the reader understand what you are saying? Could you use better words? Did you check for correct spelling? Do you have capital letters and end marks?

  10. Publishing In the final stage of the writing process, we publish! When all of the changes have been made to your paper, rewrite it in your neatest handwriting with no mistakes. Then, share what you wrote with others!
