  3. Making initial choices Wet paint will take you through a three stage set up process that will help you to set up the site. Choosing the right name and category will make your site easier to locate. For safety it is best to limit the editors to invited writers only. Selecting the style for your site is important. This will create the house style for your site and will need to suit the content on the website you are creating.

  4. Creating Graphics You can continue to personalise the site by creating a name bar in Paint to upload onto wet paint. Setting the size is important to make sure it fills the space you are given. After you have created and saved your graphic you can upload this onto your website following the same procedure as browsing and uploading an image to an email. It is a good idea to create a number of graphics that can be uploaded onto the site to give it a definite house style fitting for the brief.

  5. Adding Tags Adding tags are important in the process of getting visitors to your site. Intelligent tags mean your site will appear in search engine results. c

  6. Settings 1 This message will follow the title of the site in a search engine list. It should therefore be a summary of what the site aims to achieve, written in persuasive language. The name and logo tab and the styles tab allow you to change the choices you made when you set up the website. The templates tab will allow you to set up the layout of the page to fit a certain purpose.

  7. Settings 2 Using these statistic tools will allow you to effectively evaluate the success of the website. Setting permissions is an important part of keeping the contents of the site secure. This image shows the safest level of permission settings.

  8. Adding and editing text Editing text is very simple. Click “EasyEdit” and then typing into the frame that opens. Editing the text involves using the toolbar which is similar to that found in a word processor.

  9. Adding New pages Adding new pages is simple. Click on the add new page link on the left hand side and then make choices about names and tags. Selecting a template will organise content on the page for you. Keep doing this to create a navigation bar of pages.

  10. Adding links Inserting a link between pages will help users navigate your site. Highlight the text you want to link. Click on link and then select the location you want to link to. The text will show up blue as a hyperlink. Clicking on this hyperlink will send the user to the timings page.

  11. Adding photos Click on the photos link at the top of the page and then click on create new album. Name the album and a description. You can upload photos from your computer or search for photos on the internet. Browse for photos. They will queue. Click add photos. Add a name and tags to the image.

  12. Adding videos You can add photos and video on any page. Click “EasyEdit”, click and browse for the images/ video. You can search online or you can browse your hard drive on your computer. Click on the video you require and then click add video. You can then format the size and wrap before clicking done.

  13. Creating a forum Click on the Discussions link. Then click on add new category. You will be asked to name the category and then give a brief description. You will need to give the description an inviting tone to encourage people to explore the category. You can then set up a thread. You will be asked to give a name, message and tags. These choices will help users find this thread and then be encouraged to take part in the thread.

  14. Adding other extras The modules add effective content to your page. Recent site activity will help log the changes made which might help with evaluations. Click on content module. Select the module you think is appropriate to your site. They will appear as grey boxes in the edit view of the site.

  15. Exporting for moderation Most useful on the settings window is the option to back up. This means you can create a file that can be sent to your moderator, should the website be selected for your sample. It is also a good idea to regularly back up the site anyway in case of issues with the host site.
