  2. Project Abstract To design and build a self-aiming (go-to) telescope that utilizes various sensors (gps, compass, accelerometer) and a celestial database (Android application) to automatically find and track planets and star bodies

Packaging Constraints • 2-axis movement of telescope via vex motors (x-y plane and y-z plane) • Universal attachments to easily attach to telescope and tripod • 7.2V required for (2) 393 Vex Motors • 100 rpm at no load • Need to gear down for more torque • 10 lb telescope to support • 12” x 12” x 12” design goal

  4. Orion StarBlast6i Reflector Telescope • 2-axis movement • Base (x-y plane) allows for 360 degree rotation • y-z plane allows for 90 degree rotation • Tube rings allow easy telescope attachment • How to attach to tripod?

  5. Meade 20218 Refractor Telescope • 2-axis movement • No motors included • More simplistic design • Smaller/lighter refractor telescope • No need for counter weights • 360 degree swivel attachment to tripod
