  1. Who are the players in the Revolution? Mostly the good guys!

  2. George Washington • Virginia • Commander of the Continental Army. • Responsible for uniting the nation. • Fought and defeated the British.

  3. Thomas Jefferson • Virginia • Member of the Continental Congress. • Writer of the Declaration of Independence.

  4. Benjamin Franklin • Pennsylvania • Sent to France as an American Diplomat. • Helped form alliances. • Helped create many of the treaties after wars.

  5. Patrick Henry • Virginia • Famous for saying, “Give me liberty, or give me death!” • He demanded resistance against the British King.

  6. Thomas Paine • Pennsylvania: friends with Ben Franklin • Wrote the pamphletCommon Sense, itincluded: • All men had the right to vote. • Blasted the king, calling him “a Royal Brute” and saying monarchies are corrupt.

  7. Samuel Adams • Boston, Mass. • Leader of Sons of Liberty (in Boston) • A group that oppose British rule. • In many cities throughout the colonies. • Wrote several editorials to the newspapers.

  8. King George III (BOO!!!!!) • Britain • Defeated the French to gain control of North America. (French/Indian War) • Ruled over the colonies. • Tried to control the colonies with acts.

  9. General Burgoyne • Appointed by the King to capture Albany, New York. • In order to end the rebellion. • Thus restoring control back to the King. • Obviously, • He loses!!!!!!!!

Think about…. • Question Section • Give each player a nickname. • George Washington Thomas Jefferson • Benjamin Franklin Patrick Henry • Thomas Paine Samuel Adams • King George III General Burgoyne • Summary Section • Where are most of these guys from? • What does that say about that state? • What did you learn about some of these guys that you didn’t know? • Final Section • Create a poster for one of the people • Include: real name, nickname, some sort of image (picture, symbol, etc.) • neatness counts and in COLOR
