  1. The New Subaru WRX STI Type RA and Subaru BRZ tS in US Reveal A new production run of 500 units of the ​Subaru WRX STI​ Type RA and the Subaru BRZ tS have been announced in the US. These two visually stunning, high performance cars will have new tuning and extra equipment to raise the fun factor of driving them even higher. Let’s take a closer look at the details revealed and an Australian release in the future. The Subaru WRX STI Type RA: This car has been designed as a preview for the WRX STI Type RA NBR Special. That is the designation of the Subaru car that will attempt to set a new Nurburgring speed record this Northern summer in Germany. The WRX STI Type RA is the showroom ready model, but it still aims to drastically improve performance over its already formidable parent. Weight has been shed significantly with a new carbon fibre roof, carbon fibre rear spoiler, and no spare tyre. However weight alone was not enough to boost performance to the required levels. The 2.5 litre turbo charge powerplant now has 231kW of power, an increase of 4kW on the standard model. The Type RA has specially forged lightweight BBS 19” alloy wheels that are shod with 245/35 Yokohama Advan Sports tyres. The stability control system has been returned, Bilstein dampers are now fitted and a Brembo brake package with six piston calipers up front and dual units at the back. Other changes include Recaro front seats, a suede steering wheel, and new red trim. The Subaru BRZ tS Coupe: As the only non all wheel drive offering in the Subaru stable, it’s always interesting to see a new BRZ variant. The new BRZ tS has been tuned by STI to improve the fun factor, so no changes have been made to the engine. Instead, there are Sachs dampers and springs, flexible V braces, Brembo brakes, draw stiffeners and lightweight 18” STI alloy wheels that are shod with 215/40 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres. Australian Availability: Both of these cars are set to go on sale in the US before the end of Q1 in 2018. As of yet, no release date has been confirmed for Australia, but Subaru has confirmed that they will be sold here.
