1. Vic/Tas Branch Scholarships – up to $3000 Applications are now invited from talented PhD, Honours or Masters geoscience students undertaking energy related projects in 2014 Scholarships (up to $3000 each) are on offer to stimulate local interest in energy-related geoscience projects, and to encourage and support students continuing their geoscience education at university. Selection: Scholarships will be awarded to one or more students completing a project relevant to the energy geoscience industry (i.e. sedimentology, basin analysis, structural geology, geophysics, geochemistry, palaeontology, petroleum geology, carbon sequestration, coal seam gas, geothermal), with a good academic record and a good record of personal achievements (e.g. awards, memberships, volunteer work). Requirements: To receive their award, recipients will be expected to present a 10-15min overview of the results of their projects at a PESA technical meeting near the completion of their thesis. Expenditure: The award is made payable to assist students with university fees, subsistence, or project costs such as data acquisition and processing or travel and accommodation for field work or conferences.
