Currently the most popular major is Business Administration, followed by Accounting and Information Systems Accounting Business Administration Business Education Economics Entrepreneurship Finance-Business Finance-FIM Finance-Insurance Finance-Real Estate Information Systems Management Marketing Office Management
  4. All 5 departments are located in the Business and Aerospace Building. Departments and faculty are on one side while all business courses are taught on the other side.
  5. Students selecting a major in the Jones College of Business must apply after meeting the College’s Admission Policy. The earliest a student can apply and be accepted is as a sophomore.
  6. The computer lab is open 24/7 while classes are in session. The Jones College of Business also offers: Bloomberg Trading Room Sales Lab Help labs in Economics, Finance , Statistics and Accounting Team Study Lab Office of Consumer Research – Consumer Outlook Index and Sports Affinity Survey
  7. Samples of activities and accomplishments from 12-13: Zeta Gamma Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (ACTG) cohosted the southeast region meeting, placed 1st in best practices for innovation and will compete nationally An MBE student placed first in marketing concepts in the Phi Beta Lambda state competition Students in CIS were awarded honorable mention at the AITP national collegiate conference Students in the Chartered Financial Analyst Program placed 3rd in the statewide CFA Equity Research Challenge One student progressed to the quarterfinals in the National Collegiate Sales Competition. New this year: American Marketing Association chapter Student organizations have a faculty sponsor and are either major specific or open to anyone interested in business.
  8. 13 business courses were offered as experiential learning courses for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013. 309 students were enrolled in these courses for the Fall term. Types of Experiential Education: Study Abroad – MKT 4710 Internships Service Learning Undergraduate research Student teaching
  9. 151 students and 23 business partners from sales, banking, entrepreneurship, insurance and retail sectors participated in the Digging Deeper networking reception The BEST (Business Exchange for Student Talent) career fair hosted local employers to network with students interested in careers in MKT and MGMT (11-12) 175 students and 63 business professionals attended the Meet the Firms recruiting event Gamma Iota Sigma Insurance Fraternity hosted its annual career fair involving 24 businesses and 100 students. The GIS resume book contained resumes of 90+ students Employer participation in IT Connect, a job fair, increased 67% The Career Development Center advises students by career cluster, offers career and internship fairs, an employment database and the Raider Professional Network
  10. The Jones College has about 125 full time faculty. Faculty are either tenured, tenure-track or adjunct. The college rarely employs teaching assistants. Dr. Ford, Weatherford Chair of Finance, a former President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, makes numerous appearances on national TV business networks Dr. Hollman was named favorite MTSU professor in the annual Murfreesboro Daily News Journal Ruthies Awards MBAPrograms.org named Don Roy one of the top 50 business school professors to follow on Twitter Vince Smith received the Collegiate Teacher of the Year award sponsored by the Southern Business Education Association Rebecca Foote won the Gamma Iota Sigma Jones College Outstanding Professor election for the 4th time in 5 years
