  9. Verse 8 • An Naas – Different roots and meanings: • To dangle, to swing back and forth • To forget; those who forget • To love; to have friendships; humans tend to become familiar with each other

  10. Verse 9

  11. Verse 9 To conceal the reality and keep the other person unaware about it; a person says something but means something else Literal: hair; something that is fine; to know beware of the fine details; Technical: To perceive something, understanding something (a level higher than knowledge)

  12. Verse 10

  13. Any kind of imbalance in the body; includes mental illnesses as well • 2 diseases of the heart: • Doubts (shubuhaat) • Desires (shahawaat) Doubt about the Qu’ran & Prophet saw When doubt and disease enters the heart, it extinguishes imaan

  14. To increase; why does Allah SWT allow the disease to increase? Because it’s a natural consequence and if you don’t treat it, or cure it, it will only grow • Allah only facilitates what’s in your heart

  15. Verse 10 • Aleem that which gives pain • For these people there is a painful punishment • Its both severe and constant • The hypocrites will be in the lowest level of hell fire; also they will be returned to the hell fire • VERSUS the punishment for the previous group (disbelievers): An intense and everlasting punishment

  19. REFLECTIONS?

  20. Until Next Class… • Self-Analysis… • Is my private and public life the same? • Do I believe in my heart, and not just on the tongue? • Do I lie constantly?
