  2. Green Industry Innovation Programme - ROMANIA • A FEW FACTS ABOUT THE PROGRAMME • MoUbetweenRomania and Norway signed 20.3.12 • Availableprojectfunding: EUR 22 mill. (approx.). • Grants for co-financing of projects in Romania. • Main target group: Privatesector. • Eligible applicants: Normally, legalentities in Romania. • Norwegianentites, normally as projectpartners. • Partnershipprojectswillbeencouraged.

Green Industry Innovation Programme - ROMANIA • OVERALL OBJECTIVE - NORWAY GRANTS • Contribute to cohesion in the EuropeanEconomic Area (EEA) by makingavailablefunds for economic and social development in Romania. • Increase the bilateral relations between Romania and Norway. • Part of EuropeanEconomic Area Agreement (EEA Agreement).

  17. FUNDING • 15 Mill. Euros – for co-financingofprojects • First call for money: End 2012/beginning2013 • Last date for eligibilityofcosts: April 2016 • PROGRAMME AREA OBJECTIVE • Reducedemissionsofgreenhouse gases and air pollutants from the maritime sector

  18. EXPECTED OUTCOMES • Measurestaken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the shipping sector • Strengthenedcapacityof relevant authorities to implementclimatechange-related policy elements • Increasedawarenessof and education in how to reduceemissions from ships

WHAT COULD BE FUNDED – examples • Initiatives to promotenew and more • environmentallyfriendlysolutionsfor the • maritime sector; • - betterdesign, machinery and surface • treatmentat shipyardsthatwillresult in • reducedemissions • Capacity-buildingfor national authorities and inspectiorates to implemenet EU Maritime policy and IMO standards

  20. MORE EXAMPLES • Disseminationand planning of energy efficiencymeasures in ships’ operations (such as the IMO energy efficiencyindex) • Application ofsystematicenvironmental management systems on boardships, includingindicators, targets and monitoring systems
