  3. We Must Teach Our Young • Faith is not inherited. • Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. • Our faith will be as strong as our knowledge of the Scriptures.

We Must Teach Our Young • Congregation has a responsibility, but it must take place in the home as well. • Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go,       And when he is old he will not depart from it. • Ephesians 6:4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

  5. We Must Teach Our Young 24 x 7 = 168 total hrs/wk -4 hrs/wk with the church -63 hrs/wk sleeping 101 hrs/wk Time away from church Doing what?

  7. Kids know hypocrisy. • Matthew 18:6 “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. • Matthew 23:25-28

  9. Worldly friends • 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” • Proverbs 24:1 Do not be envious of evil men,      Nor desire to be with them; • But I’m strong. They can’t affect me. • 1 Corinthians 10:12-13

Evil Influences • 1 Thessalonians 5:22 – Abstain from every form of evil • Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. • Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. … • We must exert some influence on how our kids entertain themselves and the things we allow them to be exposed to. • We teach them not to play with fire and electricity. Why would we allow them to “play” with things that will destroy their souls?

Young folks are just like old folks. • They are free moral agents; they must choose their path for themselves. • Galatians 6:5 For each one shall bear his own load. • Romans 14:12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. • The same impediments to the seed exist in the young as in the old. Matthew 13:18-23

  14. What do we do? • Love them • Teach them • Show them • Pray for them
