  3. Where does fun belong in the Grange? • During the Lecturer’s program • During the meeting • Before & after the meeting • Community service projects,Educational activities,Legislative projects • Fund-raisers • All of the Above

  4. The Importance of Fun • Second most important reason that people join for • Enhances the bonds of friendship(#1 reason people join) • Makes people look forward to come, promotes involvement • Makes difficult/unpleasant jobs easier • Improves general attitude

  5. Fun & Attitude Rule #1 - You Can’t Have Fun WithA Negative Attitude! • Get into a Circle • Say something positive about your Grange within 5 seconds • You’re out if you say somethingnegative or repeat a positive • Keep it going!

  7. The Grinch • Tries to Stop Fun (control) • This is serious business (dignified) • Often task oriented (get the job done or done right – Don’t lose focus) • Wants focus on themselves • Unhappy (misery loves company)

  8. The Instigator • Starts Fun • Practical jokes or pranks • Sometimes described as a clown • Tells jokes and stories • Often wants people to get along

  9. The Facilitator • Allows others to have fun • Joins in • Keeps fun in bounds • As long as task is proceeding, fun is OK • Fun should never be at the expense of any member • Ensures that everyone is a part of the fun

  11. Leadership’s Role in Fun Rule 2 - Teamwork Makes Fun Possible • Form a circle of 5 to 6. • Tie your hands to your neighbors. • Each person now makes a paper airplane. • When everyone in your circle has a airplane, throw them.

  12. Leadership’s Role in Fun • Changing the way your Grange views fun • It Starts with You! • What does your appearance say to others? • What does your expression, body language say to others? • Do you plan on having fun?

  15. Leadership’s Role in Fun • Rule 3 – Work Together to Get Through the Tough Times. • Pick a partner you don’t know • Write down one thing that isn’t fun in your Grange. • Crumple it up into a ball and throw it on the floor. • Guide your partner through the minefield.
