  1. Sophomore-Level Executive Positions Freshmen Leaders in Engineering

  2. Executive Board Responsibilities* • Responsible for the overall direction of FLiE • You set the tone and the pace for next year’s freshmen members • You will be a first point of contact from Iowa State for many of the incoming, engineering freshmen – what a great opportunity!

  3. President • Establish meeting schedule, agenda, and preside over meetings • Meet weekly with the FLiE Advisor (Amy) • Continue to develop new and existing relationships with engineering-related companies (Garmin, 3M, Rockwell Collins, Vermeer, etc.) • Attend weekly Engineering Student Council (ESC) exec meetings and report FLiE’s progress to ESC

  4. VP of Committees • Take over duties of the FLiE President in the event of the President’s absence • Oversee FLiE committees and preside over FLiE executive board meetings • Organize FLiE reunion in the Fall • Contact university leadership (e.g., Dr. Hill, Leslie Potter) to speak at FLiE meetings • This position is really what you make of it • You can do as much or as little as you want

  5. VP of VEISHEA • Oversee FLiE’s construction of the College of Engineering’s VEISHEA float • Guide the VEISHEA co-chairs (and build group leaders) through the planning and building process • Make sure that FLiE’s float is registered and in compliance with all the necessary rules/paperwork required by the VEISHEA parade committee

  6. Elections Next Week! • Come prepared with a speech explaining: • What position you are running for • Why you are qualified • What you plan on doing if elected (i.e., goals) • Positions will be elected in the order they were presented • You can run for more than one position (but you cannot be elected to more than one position)
