Ambitious objectives... • This expedition will be the first French attempt on this remote more than 7,000m peak, located the border between China and Nepal • Depending on conditions, reach an unknown peak, once up there, via a more than 2 km ridge higher than 7,000 m. This peak has never been reached. • One member of the team, specialised in extreme skiing, also forecasts to downhill skiing from the peak, which would also be a very first try. • No external or professional assistance starting from base camp (4.850 m)

  4. Some Project’s details... • Himlung Himal peak: 7,126 m • Next to Annapurna • Expedition will start on 15th April 2001 and will last 8 weeks • Equipment: more than 500 Kg carried by the team

  5. The team • The team is composed of 10 people • 6 men and 4 women • ranging in age from 29 (O. Soudieux – NIS France)to 49 • No professional in the team ! • Some of them already had very high-altitude experiences (more than 7000 and 8000m summits) • All are mountaineers and mountains are their passion.

Himal Himlung expedition & public communications • Before the expedition • French television reporting, on Saturday March 3rd • Two reports published yet, in "Dauphine Libéré", a local newspaper • Expedition description on www.clubalpin.com • After the expedition • An official conference at Grenoble to present the expedition with pictures • At least three other articles are foreseen after the expedition, • including 2 in national audience specialised magazines ("Montagne Magazine" & " Trek Magazine")
