  4. Industry Links & Intra “The importance of work placements, whether these are in Ireland or overseas, has never been more obvious in dictating the growth and popularity of degree programmes. I have no doubt that the reason we have bucked the national trend for business degrees has been because we offer work placements as an integral part of all these programmes,” Prof Brian MacCraith, DCU President, August 2011. • In the current economic climate, it is vital that we prepare our graduates for the workplace. • Our relationships with industry, ensure that our students can avail of placements with the leading lights of Irish industry. • Many students return to their Intra employers upon graduation.

  5. Business Studies International “There is a huge opportunity for Ireland if we can adapt our education system to allow for the studying of more languages. Indeed, we need to do so if we are to be a truly open economy operating in the global economy.” • John Herlihy, Vice-president of Google’s global ad operations, Oct 2011 • 4 year degree enables students to spend a year at a top partner university in Europe, Central America, Japan or China. • Students will also enjoy a choice of specialist streams, optional work placement, an entrepreneurial focus, and strong employment prospects, especially with multi nationals. “We believe that Irish students should be encouraged to consider language skills as a complement, if not core, to whatever course of study they embark upon,” Orna Holland, EMEA staffing manager at Facebook, Oct 2011

  6. BA in Global Business “The lack of people with German language skills in our exporting companies is a major contributing factor to why we have never managed to fully exploit the opportunity the market affords,” • Deirdre McPartlin, manager of Dusseldorf office, Enterprise Ireland. • Offered with French (DC112), German (DC113), Spanish (DC114) or Transatlantic Studies (DC116), the course is full-time over four years. • Students graduate with two qualifications: the BA in Global Business from DCU and a qualification from their partner institute.

  7. B.Sc. in Aviation Management/B.Sc in Aviation Management with Pilot Studies This course addresses gaps in the education of those entering the aviation industry; • for those who wish to become commercial pilots, it offers a route to a professional qualification as a commercial pilot combined with a strong background in business education; • for those who see themselves in other roles, it provides the necessary expertise to maximise your potential in this ever-changing industry.
