  1. EASTER TRIDUUMBy Andrew Quinn The Easter Triduum is made up of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday.

  2. Holy Thursday • On Holy Thursday, Jesus washed the Apostles’ feet during the Last Supper, He also gave us the sacrament of Eucharist • He then said that the next person He gave bread to would betray Him. Jesus gave the bread to Judas who then walked out. • During the Last Supper they were celebrating Passover, which is when God freed the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. • Jesus told the Apostles the Bread was His body, and that the wine was His blood. • Dear God, thank you for Jesus and that He was able to give Himself up for us.

  3. Good Friday • On Good Friday Jesus was crucified. • He was forced to carry his cross up Calvary. • While He was walking up, he saw many people who were sad, including his mother. • Eventually a man from the crowd named Simon had to help Jesus carry the cross. • He was buried in a new tomb and a large boulder was put in front of it. • Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus to us so He could teach everyone, heal people, and save us all.

  4. Holy Saturday • On Holy Saturday we celebrate the Easter vigil. • During the Easter Vigil there are four parts, The Service of light, the Liturgy of The Word, The Liturgy of the Baptism, and the Liturgy of the Eucharist • In the Service of light, all the lights in the church are off. There is a fire outsideof the church and it is blessed. The Paschal Candle is then lit from the fire and is brought into the church, and lights all of the smaller candles of the members of the church. The Paschal Candle is a sign that Jesus is the light of the world and can overcome sin. • Many people are baptized on Holy Saturday. • Dear God, thank you for giving us the Mass to help us share Jesus’ word and His joy with the world

  5. Summary • The Easter Triduum was sad for Jesus’ friends and family, but turned into a joyous event when He was resurrected. Jesus had the last Supper, was Crucified and waited in his tomb until he rose again on Easter morning. All three of them are the steps to how Jesus died and saved us all, so He could spread the joy to everyone on earth.

  6. Prayer • Dear God, May all the people who cannot celebrate the Easter Triduum be helped from whatever is keeping them from celebrating it, and may Jesus’ death be remembered and celebrated by everyone. Amen.
