District Accreditation Overview The School District of Palm Beach County’s Mission: The School District of Palm Beach County is committed to providing a world-class education with excellence and equity to empower each student to reach his or her highest potential with the most effective staff to foster the knowledge, skills, and ethics required for responsible citizenship and productive careers. Vision: The School District of Palm Beach County envisions a dynamic collaborative multicultural community where education and lifelong learning are valued and supported, and all learners reach their highest potential and succeed in the global economy.

  3. The School District of Palm Beach County and all of its schools (not including charters) are working towards District Accreditation through the international company, AdvancED. International Accreditation Agency

  4. Who is ? Brings together three of the largest US-based accreditation agencies: • North CentralAssociation Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) • Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI)

  5. Why did the District Leadership decide to go through this process? International Accreditation Agency • External review assures the community of educational quality • Cost savings to the District and schools • Students have greater access to federal loans, scholarships, postsecondary education and military programs that require students to attend accredited institutions.

Reporting Requirements in theSelf Assessment For each standard: • Determine and enter the score for each indicator on a 1-4 rating scale and develop a plan for low rated indicators • List evidence to support ratings of indicators • Write one-page summary that supports ratings of indicators for each standard

  13. Diagnostic Reporting Requirementsfor the Executive Summary Summary to showcase your school Up to 4 pages Open to public on AdvancED website

  14. Other Reporting Requirements • Student Performance • Stakeholder Involvement • Assurances The Educational Data Warehouse Department is providing reports to complete the Student Performance and Stakeholder Involvement sections.

  16. By November 2012 Schedule allows the District time to review submitted reports: • Supports schools • Ensure 100% schools participated • Low indicators have improvement plans in place

  17. By December 2012 AdvancEd will inform us which schools were selected for the external site visit.

  19. Quality Assurance Review (QAR) Team • 35-40 AdvancED members visit the district • Represent Florida as well as districts throughout the nation

Quality Assurance Review Schedule January 27-30, 2013 • Day One - Arrive at Hotel , Orientation • Day Two - District Offices, Meet with Leadership and Principals • Day Three - School Visits, Interviews with Stakeholders • Day Four - District Offices, Follow-up on Questions and Exit Report at School Board Meeting 4
