  11. COSTAR (O-UE) – to cost • Used primarily in the 3rd person singular and plural (i.e.: it costs and they cost) • You will either see cuesta or cuestan depending on whether the thing that costs is singular or plural

  12. LLEVAR – to carry/wear • Used with clothing • Regular –AR verb • I wear / I’m wearing some socks and shoes. • Llevounoscalcetines y unoszapatos. • You wear a coat in the winter. • Llevas un abrigo en el invierno.

  13. QUEDAR – to “fit” • Used with indirect object pronouns and sometimes stress pronouns • Used like GUSTAR so you will usually only see two forms: queda or quedan depending on whether the thing that fits is singular or plural

  14. How to use QUEDAR • with adjectives like grande(s) and pequeño/a(s) • with adverbs like bien and mal • the adjectives will agree, but the adverbs will not change form • Examples: • Estafalda me quedapequeña. Me queda mal. • This skirt fits me small. It fits me badly. • Estasbotas me quedangrandes. No me quedanbien. • These boots fit me big. They don’t fit me well.

  16. BUSCAR – to search (for) • Regular –AR verb endings • The “for” is included in the verb so DO NOT USE POR OR PARA with this verb!

  17. PARECER – to seem/appear • Used with indirect object pronouns • Used like GUSTAR so you will usually only see two forms: parece or parecen depending on whether the thing is singular or plural • ¿Cómoteparecenestasbotas? • How do these boots seem to you?

  18. ¿Cómo les parece(n)… …los lentes de sol de la chica? …la camiseta de la chica? …la falda de la chica? …los pantalones de la chica? …la chaqueta de la mujer? …lassandalias de la mujer? …los lentes de sol de la mujer?

  22. PRETERITE of COMPRAR – to buy Uses regular –AR verb endings in the preterite

  23. PRETERITE of PAGAR – to pay • Uses regular –AR verb endings in the preterite • Has a spelling change in the “yo” form to maintain the correct sound Without the spelling change, the “g” would not have a hard sound in front of the “e” vowel.

  24. PRETERITE of LEVANTARSE – to get up • Conjugates the same way as regular –AR verbs • Don’t forget the reflexive pronoun!
