Some days you will be given a Math question. You will use your MATH JOURNAL to answer it. Copy down the Math question then answer it in 3 to 4 complete sentences.

We will answer today’s question together.

Turn to the next blank page in your MATH JOURNAL.

9

Guided Question

How is decimal an extension of

whole number?

Decimals gives you a more

accurate position on the number line.

We see that in the library, where books are

given decimal values.

Between the whole numbers 8 and 9 you can see

the decimals 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, 8.5,

8.6, 8.7, 8.8, and 8.9

By using numbers with decimals you can

locate exactly where something is.

This is a very important activity. Your MATH JOURNAL is a very important tool. You will use your MATH JOURNAL to help you better understand MATH. DO NOT MISPLACE IT.
