  2. 1stPhrase Of Analysis: Negro Tramps • An article in Alabama, Huntsville, the reporter refers to nine young men as the Negro Tramps. When you analyze the word you won’t really see as having a negative connation, when you see Negro. Negro is not really negative back then, because in the 1900s Negro means African American or Black. What makes it negative is the word that describes the boys, which is tramp. The definition of tramp means someone who is promiscuous or has many short sexual relationships. • Cite: http://www.digitalhistory.uh.edu/disp_textbook.cfm?smtID=3&psid=1126

  3. 2nd Phrase Of Analysis: Pure Southern White Women • In the movie “ The American Tragedy: Scottsboro Case “, the two women that had accused the nine boys of rape were referred to as “ Pure Southern White Women “. When we break down the word that we realize that it has a positive connation, because there is one word in that makes it positive is the word “ Pure “. And, the definition of pure would be untainted, clean, and good. But, this is a misconception of these to women, because the women were actually prostitutes that sold their body to whites and blacks. An addition to that, we know that in the 1930s that there was racial tension between the Caucasians and African Americans, so we can assume that Caucasians to have biases to African Americans and to their own race. • Cite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCBV-GhyINY

  4. 3rd Phrase Of Analysis: The Gang Of Young Communists • The article that says this phrase is named the “Fight For Doomed Negros”. In the phrase, the word that determine it’s connation is the word gang. If you search for the definition of a gang it will say that it is an organized group of criminals or a young group of people who are involved in petty crimes and violence. So, the phrase would have a negative mean to it, and the word is also with associated with the word Communists. Then, we can assume that they have negative conceptions toward a person who favors Communism. • Cite: http://www.digitalhistory.uh.edu/disp_textbook.cfm?smtID=3&psid=1126
