  2. Beginnings of His Life. • Born into a Quaker farming family. • Guess where he was born…? Haverhill, Massachusetts Like every body else. • Date of birth was 17th of December 1807

  3. Education • A high school education. • He was also able to support himself. • He also had a talent in shoe making. • He was also a teacher and and a very good one at that.

  4. Homestead *Open to public since 1893 *Built in 1688. *The 5th generation of family to live there.

  5. Legends of New England in Prose and Verse (1831). Followed by two long poems, Moll Pitcher (1832). And Mogg Megone (1836). His First Books & Works

  6. About Him… • Writing at age 19 • Friends worked together against slavery. • His pamphlet, Justice and Expediency, made him a prominent figure in anti slavery.
