  1. The Nervous System By: Dylan , Veronica and Cahnelius

  2. We are the Nervous system • The Brain • The Spinal Cord • The Peripheral nerves Enjoy

  3. I am the brain • I control your sleeping • I also control almost every single one of your movements • I control how you feel Emotionally, and Painfully

  4. Brain Map The Brain has 4 main parts. The Cerebellum The Cerebrum The Diencephalon The Brain Stem

  5. The Job of the Brain in the Nervous System • The diencephalon receives and sends signals • Those signals allow you to move, have fear, hunger, pain, and thirst • The brain Stem controls all automatic brain functions such as heartbeat, breathing, and digestion.

  6. Additional Jobs the Brain has in the Nervous System • The Cerebellum helps maintain balance and posture • Allows to make smooth coordinated movements • The Cerebrum is the part of the brain that we use to think

  7. How I work with other organs • The brain works with the lungs: the brain controls breathing • The brain works with the spinal cord: the brain controls posture and balance • The brain works the heart: the brain sends signals so the heart can pump blood the amount of pressure that the heart pumps can shoot about thirty feet

  8. A disease of the Brain • Epilepsy- it causes seizures frequently and more often

  9. Interesting facts • Lack of sleep can kill you quicker than the lack of food • A section of the brain is called the Medulla Oblongata • The brain contains billions of nerve cells that send and receive information around the body.

  10. Some more interesting facts • The human brain is protected by the skull (cranium), a protective casing made up of 22 bones that are joined together. • Most strokes result from a blood clot in the brain that blocks the local blood supply, this causes the damage or destruction of nearby brain tissue and a wide range of stroke symptoms

  11. Now Spinal Cord

  12. I am the spinal cord • I keep the body from flopping or having no control over your posture • I am narrow, I run within the bones of the spinal cord column

  13. A picture of the Spinal Cord

  14. My job within my system • I help you grow, stay alive and if you didn’t have me you would be floppy like pancake • Keeping your organs from moving all around your body

  15. The way I work with other organs • The brain and heart are dependent on the spinal cord • I keep all of your organs in place such as the heart and the brain

  16. Diseases of the Spinal Cord • You can get spinal bifida • Cancer on the spinal cord

  17. Now the Peripheral Nerves

  18. I am the Peripheral nerves • I control 31 pairs of spinal nerves

  19. A picture of the Peripheral nerves

  20. My job within my system • I help the brain send vibes throughout the body

  21. How I work with other organs • I work with the spinal cord and the brain • I control 31 of the pairs in the spinal cords nerves • I work with the brain because I help the brain send vibes throughout the body
