  2. Purpose of Feasts: • To reveal God’s plan • To celebrate God’s faithfulness • To point to Messiah Jesus • To give hope for daily living • To get a glimpse of the future

  3. Main Feasts: Pesach (Passover) • Redemption from slavery in Egypt • Salvation of first born from death • God’s mighty acts Key Elements: • Passover lamb • Unleavened bread (Matzo) • Bitter herbs • Four cups

  4. Rosh HaShanah (Trumpets) • Beginning of Jewish civil year • Beginning of Ten Days of Awe • Prepares Israel for upcoming repentance Key Elements: • Blowing of Shofar • Remembrance • Kingship of God

  5. Yom Kippur (Atonement) • Atone for the sins of Israel • Israel’s holiest day • God provides forgiveness Key Elements: • Confession, repentance, and reconciliation • Prayer and fasting • Scapegoat carries sins outside and dies

  6. Sukkot (Tabernacles) • Remember 40 years in the wilderness in tents • Celebrates Fall harvest • God’s provision and faithfulness Key Elements: • Dwell in temporary booths • Branches and songs of praise • God’s provision, presence, promise, and prophecy
