  1. South East Regional Programme Board What it is for and what it will do

  2. The Regional Programme Board had its first meeting on the 20th July in London Who came; People from the Valuing People Team Deputy Regional Director for Social Care Representatives from the South East Regional Forum of People with Learning Difficulties South Central Strategic Development Team Regional Carers Network NHS Coast Strategic Health Authority Representatives from the Partnership Boards of Windsor, Berkshire, Brighton and Hove, Southampton, Wokingham,

  3. We agreed that ; We will make sure that Valuing People Now happens for all people with learning difficulties in the South East. We will write a plan about the most important things we will need to do in the South East – this will be our Regional Delivery Plan. We will look at how our local Partnership Boards are doing and compare with other Partnership Boards in other areas.

  4. We will make sure that money and resources are used to make things happen in the South East. We will help the Valuing People Team to support local actions. We will write reports for the National Learning Disability Programme Board. We are going to meet every 2 months to start with as there is a lot to do and then every 3 months. We will make sure that everyone is included in the meetings.

  5. We will make sure that people with learning difficulties and family carers have the support they need to join in. People with learning difficulties and family carers will get paid for their time and expenses.

  6. At the meeting we looked at whether we had the right people and whether there were people who were missing and should be on the Board. We thought that we needed people from the voluntary sector and provider services, housing, employment and the justice department and social care. We would also invite speakers along in the future.

  7. The Programme Board will also ask people in South East with learning difficulties what is one thing that is most important to them that the Programme Board could help them with. This would be separate from the priorities in Valuing People Now. We will look at all the annual reports that the 19 Partnership Boards produce in the South East and will from those put together a report to the National Programme Board.

  8. Jo Poynter is going to meet with Voice4kent on the 25th August to design a flow chart about the money so that people can understand better where all the money comes from. We will report back to the Partnership Board after each meeting. Thank you
