  1. Lube Project on die number 48ddmo3in IET 120 Online Fall 2013 Tommy Walker James Johnson

  2. The Problem • The problem we chose was to figure out a way to reduce the number of time die number 48DDMO3IN was pulled due to lack of lube. • As you can see this die has been pulled more than any other die.

  3. Brainstorming • We came up with several different solutions for this problem. We looked at the simplest solution of having the operator apply the lube manually. We also looked at some complex solutions such as putting the lube system on a computer controlled system.

  4. Examples of solutions This is the manual off and on button. The main problem with this is the operators may forget to turn it on .

  5. Examples of solutions These are examples of programmable solutions for the problem. These are the best solution because you can program them to work with any machine.

  6. Conclusion • The best overall choice is a programmable controller. While this has an expensive start up cost it pays for itself with time. • If we can reduce the number of time the die is pulled by half the savings would be tremendous.
