  1. CIM Health Check Raj Chudgar Program Director for Market Redesign TPTF

  2. 2 As indicated in the CIM Health check progress report at last TPTF, Major challenge for Nodal is the successful integration of CIM data 1 2 3 4 3 CIM critical dependency is on successful model integration of EMS, MMS and NMMS TPTF

  3. 2 Current progress is as represented in the bubbles 1 2 3 4 NMMS Exchanging model with EMS and MMS to finalize schema 3 EMS CIM Importer currently in Pre-FAT • MMS • MMS4 will begin FAT 4/22/08 CIM critical dependency is on successful model integration of EMS, MMS and NMMS TPTF

  4. CIM Impacts on the Nodal Early Delivery Systems (EDS) 1 4 2 3 EMS Zonal Exporter NMMS Exporter EMS Importer MMS Importer TPTF

  5. CIM Exporter/Importer still under development – listed below is the current state 1 2 3 CIM Component Measurement Items TPTF

  6. NMMS - Mitigation items to get to Green 1 • Design and Build • Network Model exchange with multiple vendors on-going. Task targeted to be completed by May 2nd, 2008 to allow time for data load and validation prior to Single Entry Go Live • Testing • ERCOT NMMS will be completed with FAT for NMMS 3 on April 30th, 2008 • Data Model Validation • Base-case comparison between Zonal and Nodal Network Models • Dependent on downstream applications. Currently working with EMS and MMS to provide full set of classes and attributes that are needed for their files • Data Validation • TSPs validation of data in Network Model underway, will be an on-going item post Go Live • Market Trials • NOMCR Market Trials underway. Will be completed May 20th TPTF

  7. MMS - Mitigation items to get to Green 2 • Design and Build • Initial design is complete. • Regular conversations on the status of CIM importer occurring between ERCOT & ABB. • Testing • ERCOT involved in definition and execution of the CIM importer tests.   • CIM Importer is part of MMS4 testing • MMS4 Pre-FAT - CIM importer testing completed 15Apr08 • MMS4 FAT - CIM importer testing will begin 22Apr08 • Data Model Validation • NMMS, EMS, MMS coordinating to finalize CIM Schema. • ERCOT is working with ABB, who is maintaining a detailed, prioritized spreadsheet with all modeling and data issues. • ERCOT is performing due diligence of all CIM attributes necessary to execute all functions in MMS. • NMMS & MMS will review and confirm all data modeling requirements no later than 25Apr08 • Data Validation • On-going ERCOT activity that includes MMS, EMS, NMMS, System Operations, RARF Folks, etc. • Market Trials • EDS 4 Release 9.3 will be using CIM. TPTF

  8. EMS - Mitigation items to get to Green 3 • Design and Build • ERCOT escalation to AREVA Management minimize schedule delay • ERCOT personnel on-site at AREVA • ERCOT proactively addressing open issues • Completing build will move to Green • Testing • ERCOT doing preliminary testing in parallel to reduce testing cycle • ERCOT developed a comparison database to support validation • Data Model Validation • NMMS, EMS, MMS coordinating to finalize CIM Schema • EMS currently in Pre-FAT for CIM Importer; expected to be in FAT on 28Apr08 • Data Validation • Plans to compare the data between the Zonal Habitat Databases (source) and the Nodal Habitat Databases (generated via CIM XML) • Data validation continues as code matures with increased functionality TPTF

  9. CIM Integration Plan • Given the criticality of CIM, ERCOT has assigned Linda Clarke to facilitate/coordinate CIM integration between key vendors (MMS, EMS and NMMS) • CIM integration meetings are held on a weekly basis to monitor progress/expedite problem resolution • The team is developing an integrated plan that drives NMMS, MMS, EMS, and EDS applications to use same version of CIM and data • Plan includes tasks necessary to successfully perform • NOMCR Checkout and Network Model Verification • LFC Testing ERCOT system • Other EDS activities • Also includes activities to support multi-vendor interoperability test at ERCOT • ERCOT will continue to provide periodic updates to TPTF on progress to date TPTF
